Moot's vocal style harkens back to the Hank Williams Sr era and his lyrics are traditional down home, hard-core honky tonk at it's finest. The Last Train Home cut sounds and feels like a foggy night in old New Orleans; Nothing tells the tale of a man misbehaving whose reward is just that, nothing; Stay Gone is the lament of the former loved one who can't seem to shake that old girlfriend. The 4th track, Whiskey Town is scheduled to be released in an upcoming Sandra Bullock film. The albums 10 songs were all written by Moot, who also does vocals and plays acoustic guitar. Other musicians include Don Heffington (drums); Gabe Witcher (fiddle); Jonathon Clark (background vocals); Joe Buck (upright & electric bass); Gary Morse (banjo, dobro, pedal & lap steel); Skip Edwards (piano & steel guitar); and Pete Anderson (producer, arranger, electric & acoustic guitar, banjo, manodlin & percussion). This album is a must have for anyone who enjoys pure country music in the honky tonk tradition.
